Florida Purple Star School

Pea Ridge Elementary is a Purple Star Campus. The Florida Purple Star School of Distinction Designation was established by the state legislature in 2021 to recognize schools that support the unique needs of military families, help military-connected students navigate critical challenges and provide resources for military-connected students when transitioning to a new school environment.

Welcome Military Families

Thank you for visiting the military resource page. If you are new to the area or to Pea Ridge Elementary, we want to welcome you.  Our goal is to provide you the best transition possible and to welcome your family into the Pea Ridge Elementary Chief family. You will find several resources below that may be of use to you as a military-connected family.

Pea Ridge Elementary aims to serve our military families through our Military and Family Life Counseling program, which supports service members, their families and survivors with confidential non-medical counseling where they are stationed. Non-medical counseling can help individuals address issues such as improving relationships at home and work, stress management, adjustment difficulties, parenting, and grief or loss.

We provide a full-time Military and Family Life Counselor specializing in child and youth issues. She provides short term, non-medical counseling support to military children, service members, family members, and staff. She is available Monday through Friday during school hours. Services are at no cost and confidential with the exception of child abuse, domestic abuse, and other duty to warn situations. The Military and Family Life Counselor can assist with issues such as school adjustment, deployment and separation, reunion adjustment, sibling and parent-child communication, behavioral concerns, and fear, grief and loss. MFLC may provide psycho educational groups, deployment groups, classroom presentations, behavioral interventions, parent or staff consultations, resource/referral information, and special outreach events for Veterans Day or Month of The Military Child. To make an appointment, just call the school main line@ (850) 995-3680 and ask for the Military Counselor.

Anchored 4 Life

Pea Ridge Elementary realizes that relocating and duty changes can be stressful, so we offer our military students assistance in the form of a student transition team, consisting of peer counselors with one of our students serving as the transition team coordinator.  This team provides a military peer-support system as well as helping our new military students become familiar with our school during their first couple of weeks here at P.R.E. Please contact our Military Family Life Counselor to start the process.
